Depending upon the number and quality of the entries received, NAMA may present up to six Chapter Improvement Awards for:

The purpose of the Chapter Performance Awards is to recognize unique and effective ideas to encourage students to try new ideas to improve their chapter. For example, the Membership Recruitment Award will probably not go to the chapter with the largest membership, but rather to the chapter with a unique and innovative new idea used to recruit members. By recognizing great ideas from individual chapters, we hope to share those ideas and improve all student chapters. Chapter Performance Awards are chosen from the Annual Reports.
NAMA will present one Outstanding Advisor Award, one Outstanding Professional Award and one Outstanding Professional Chapter Award.
Background: The John Deere Signature Award is designed to create a new level of recognition within the NAMA Student Careers Program. It gives heightened exposure to outstanding student chapters who excel in encouraging student opportunities for increased business knowledge, academic excellence, leadership development and community citizenship.
How it Works: Student chapters will receive points for exciting elements in Student NAMA (Outstanding Student Chapter, Outstanding Advisor, Scholarships, and Marketing Competition) and also for other elements as outlined below.
Each chapter will submit their entries via an excel spreadsheet signed off on by their advisor. Each student chapter can receive an electronic version of the spreadsheet via the national office or via the NAMA web site. Criteria are listed below. Log in the information on what your chapter did to meet the criteria, print it out and have your advisor sign it. Mail, fax or email the spreadsheet to the national office by March 25th. If emailed, your advisor must add a note to the email that they have approved the form. NOTE: You will only be able to fill in the information in the bold face areas. Outstanding Student Chapter, Advisor, etc., will be filled in by the National office and then the information for the marketing competition will be filled in at the Conference in April. The winners of the Award will be announced at the student awards ceremony on Thursday, April 19, 2012.

GENERAL CRITERIA FOR THE ANNUAL REPORT FOR OSC JUDGING:
1. Content for the annual report runs from March 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012 and should detail all chapter activities throughout the year.
2. Submit your chapter goals for the year by December 1. This is worth 5 points during scoring of the annual reports.
3. The annual report is limited to a maximum of 60 pages. Dividers and tab pages do not count as part of the 60-page limit. Assemble the 60 pages according to your content needs, either one-side-only or back-to-back. The back-to-back option allows you to showcase up to "120 pages" of content. Choose your own paper stock and/or acetate sleeves to hold photos, newsletters, newspaper clips, etc. Be sure to follow the judging form on pages 32 - 34.
4. The annual report must be a standard 8½" x 11" size and no smaller than 12 pt. font. It may be stapled, bound or in a 3-ring binder.
5. Photos with meaningful captions are encouraged to strengthen content.
6. The annual report must include the name, permanent mailing address and e-mail address of each student senior (spring or summer graduates). This information is used to notify the graduates how to activate their free membership in professional NAMA.
7. The annual report must also include a list of up to four key deans/administrators (with addresses) from your college/university to receive correspondence from the NAMA office.

NAMA will award scholarships to student members based on their leadership abilities and academic record. The number of scholarships are determined every year by the funds available, and the number and quality of the applicants. In 2011, $15,500 in scholarships was awarded.
One such scholarship, the R.C. Ferguson/Successful Farming Scholarship, was established to honor long-time student chapter promoter R.C. "Fergie" Ferguson. Ferguson retired from Successful Farming after 41 years of service. The award is a $4,000 scholarship. This scholarship may only be awarded to a junior.
There is also a scholarship sponsored by NOVUS International, Inc. In addition, the MoKan NAMA Chapter will award a $1,000 scholarship to a qualifying student from one of their sponsored schools.
1. Judging is by representatives from the Agri-Business Educational Foundation.
2. Nominee must be a member of an accredited Student NAMA chapter.
3. Chapters may nominate more than one individual from freshman, sophomore or junior underclassmen. Seniors graduating in May or graduate students are not eligible.
4. All applicants must have a “B” or higher grade point average.
5. The monetary award must be used during the following school year.
6. Entries must be submitted on the form on the following page. A word-processed version of the form may be created and used. The form can also be accessed at www.nama.org in the Student Guidelines which can be found under the Student tab. Regardless of font size and margins, application cannot exceed two 8-1/2 x 11 pages. DO NOT SUBMIT RECOMMENDATIONS FROM PROFESSIONALS AND ADVISORS. THESE WILL NOT BE JUDGED.
